The unveiling ceremony of the statue at the World Youth Forum (WYF) in Sharm el-Sheikh, in Egypt's northeastern Sinai Peninsula was attended by thousands, including Egypt's President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, BBC News reported.

The sculpture of Salah joins a long list of other sculptures in the football world that have left fans scratching their heads about likeness.

The statue also reminded numerous controversy over the bust of Ronaldo at Madeira airport which sculptor Emanuel Santos reworked after an outcry that it did not bear a good resemblance to the Portuguese superstar.

But people have suggested it looks more like singer Leo Sayer or Marv the burglar from the film Home Alone.
