Israeli forces kill at least six Palestinians in Gaza

Turkey on Saturday "strongly" condemned Israel's "heinous attack" on peaceful Palestinian protestors in Gaza which killed seven people.

"With our blood and our spirit we will redeem the martyr", shouted the angry mourners.

The Israeli colonial settlers threw a number of large rocks, breaking the windshield of the vehicle.

The escalation in violence between Palestinians and the Israeli army over the weekend came after rumors have been circulating recently about a multilateral agreement between Hamas and various elements in the region, with Qatar pledging this week $150 million, including for fuel supply, in humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Hamas, the de facto governing authority in the Gaza strip, has orchestrated near-weekly protests along the border, pressing for an end to a stifling Israel-Egyptian blockade.

"Israel will not tolerate a situation in which fuel tankers are allowed to enter Gaza on the one hand, while terror and violence are used against [Israeli] soldiers and Israeli citizens on the other", said Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Five then tried to attack an army base and were shot, he said.

The bodies of three Palestinians were taken back into the Strip by rioters, Hadashot TV news reported.

The importing of fuel into Gaza was meant to relieve the humanitarian situation there and reduce tensions in the coastal enclave, allowing the possibility of a more wide-scale agreement between Israel and Hamas.

He said Doha's move, which happened without the consent of the legitimate Palestinian government, comes in the form of an "indirect funding to encourage Hamas" on its position in rejecting reconciliation efforts.

Tensions have been running high near the fence since March 30, which marked the start of a series of protests dubbed "The Great March of Return". Hamas says the escalation of protests is a response to the unresolved cease-fire talks.
