Ex-Trump Campaign Chief Manafort to Be Sentenced in February

The documents were admitted into evidence during Manafort's trial and several portions were read aloud, but special counsel Robert Mueller's office had withheld them.

Manafort in September pleaded guilty to two criminal counts in a separate case in the nation's capital, marking a legal victory for the special counsel investigating Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, and possible Trump campaign efforts to assist in the effort.

The judge also dismissed the outstanding 10 charges against Manafort without prejudice, meaning they could be filed again.

"I have not heard any estimation from the government of when his cooperation will be complete", Ellis said, referring to the special counsel investigation.

Defense attorney Kevin Downing said in court that there are "significant issues with Mr. Manafort's health right now that have to do with his confinement".

Ellis' decision to push ahead with sentencing could result in Manafort receiving a higher prison sentence at first, which prosecutors could then seek to have reduced if he furthers the Mueller probe. Republicans say the Federal Bureau of Investigation made missteps when it applied to a special court for a warrant to conduct surveillance on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and questioned the FBI's use of a confidential informant who reached out to several Trump campaign officials.

Prosecutors say Manafort falsified the documents, leaving off millions in income. He also agreed to cooperate with the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election led by Mueller.

In the United States judge of the circuit court of Alexandria (Virginia) said that the sentence manufactu the Floor, the former Chairman of the election headquarters of the President of Donald trump, will be presented February 8, 2019.

Manafort was convicted in federal court in Alexandria on tax- and bank-fraud charges largely unconnected to his work on the Trump campaign.

The plea allowed Manafort to avoid a second trial in exchange for his cooperation with Mueller's probe.
