Texas woman, with baby, leads police on high-speed chase

This shocking video shows how a woman led police on a high-speed auto chase which ended in a crash, then attempted to hijack another vehicle while carrying a baby.

The incident happened on June 15, but police helicopter footage has only now been released by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

With the auto seat on her arm, Rodriguez dashed across several lanes of the busy highway and hopped into a Nissan Xterra that she tried carjacking.

A mother was filmed driving at speed between cars as she tried to escape a police pursuit. The woman crashed and ran from police with the baby in a auto seat.

Police used a tire deflation device to disable the front tire of the Mercedes SUV, but the woman continued to flee, crossing into oncoming traffic at times.

According to TXDPS, Rodriguez had outstanding warrants and fled after a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop.

She is seen running through traffic before troopers say she tried to carjack a woman who also had a child in the auto. Troopers blocked the vehicle and got everyone out.

ABC News reports that the baby was taken into care by social services and that the woman was charged with evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and endangering a child.
