Ronan Farrow: New Kavanaugh Accuser Came Forward Because Democrats ‘Came Looking’

Michael Avenatti, a United States lawyer known for representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels in her cases against President Trump, has alleged on Twitter that he is representing a third woman with "credible information" regarding Judge Kavanaugh and the alleged witness to Prof Ford's assault, Mark Judge.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrangled with Ford's lawyers for the past week over the exact terms of her appearance. "Deborah said she is confident that she can recall Brett laughing as he pulled up his trousers, and said she then heard someone yell, "'Brett Cavanaugh just put his penis in Debbie's face!" from down the hall.

Kavanaugh appeared on a likely path to confirmation in a Senate controlled by the GOP 51-49 until Ford's allegation came to light on September 13, when Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein of California told the Federal Bureau of Investigation about unspecified information she received in July about the nominee.

"We were told no decision has been made on this important issue, even though various senators have been dismissive of her account and should have to shoulder their responsibility to ask her questions", the attorneys for Ms Ford said. "I will support her steadfast bravery".

Trump, at the United Nations in NY, declared that Kavanaugh is "outstanding", and added, "I am with him all the way".

President Donald Trump has accused Feinstein and the Democrats of "very purposefully" waiting to release the allegations in order to jeopardize Kavanaugh's nomination.

Democratic Senator Dick Durbin of IL, also a Judiciary Committee member, questioned why Ford would have come forward if the allegation wasn't true.

"I remember hearing and being mortified that this was out there", she said.

"I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr Ford was as bad as she says", Mr Trump tweeted, "charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents".

One classmate who Ramirez said egged on Kavanaugh denied any memory of the party, according to the magazine. The accusations from Christine Blasey Ford, denied vehemently by Kavanaugh, threaten to slow his Senate confirmation vote, with Democrats saying the FBI should investigate the charges, a demand that is not gaining traction among Republicans.

Colorado Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet's spokesperson, Shannon Beckham, told CNN that staff for a Democrat on the Judiciary Committee reached out to Bennet's office, "and asked for a connection to someone who might be helpful should Deborah Ramirez decide to come forward with an allegation related to that made by Dr. Ford". She recalled another male student shouting about the incident. They were both present at a party in a dorm room their freshman year, Ramirez told The New Yorker's Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer.

The first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, has said Kavanaugh assaulted her in high school.

Senate Republicans hope to confirm Kavanaugh before the Supreme Court begins its new term on October 1.

Stephanopoulos argued Ramirez at first wasn't sure it was Kavanaugh, and that the New Yorker report says it was only after six days she became confident.

Kavanaugh denies all the allegations against him. She says he put his hand over her mouth when she tried to scream. Meanwhile, Republicans were pressing for a swift hearing and a vote.

Kavanaugh, who strongly denies the assault allegation, has said he wishes to testify as soon as possible to clear his name from Ford's claims that he attacked her at a high school party in the 1980s.

The panel's top Democrat Dianne Feinstein and Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stressed in a letter to Trump that background investigations on judicial nominees have been reopened more than 10 times in the past three months alone when new facts came to light. Let him say what he has to say.
