Plane quarantined in United States after passengers fall ill

Emirates Flight 203 from Dubai was headed to NY when at least 100 of its 500 passengers reported feeling ill.

The Centers for Disease Control is on scene at John F. Kennedy International Airport outside New York City, after a "dozen" passengers on an Emirates Air flight reportedly fell ill with high fevers.

"All we have been told is that some passengers have fallen ill and we should remain in our seats", said Twitter user Larry Coben.

According to reports, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said as many as 100 of the plane's over 500 passengers reported feeling sick during Flight 203, which originated in Dubai.

The plane - a double-deck Airbus 380 - was taken to a location away from the terminal so emergency officials could evaluate the situation, officials from the Port Authority of NY and New Jersey said in a statement.

In the video Vanilla Ice said, "Someone is sick on the plane, a couple people got ill on the plane and it must be pretty serious because that's a lot of people out there". He added that all symptoms pointed to the flu. Ten people were heading to Jamaica Hospital, while 250 had already deplaned and been cleared to continue their travel, he added.

An Emirates superjumbo in NY has been met by ambulances, police and disease control experts after passengers became unwell. The local NY affiliate of NBC News reported that there was a concern some passengers had recently traveled to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where there's been an outbreak of the flu.
