Trump Organization executive Allen Weisselberg receives immunity deal

He spoke to a grand jury investigating Michael Cohen.

But then came revelations that his long-time friend, David Pecker, the CEO of National Enquirer publisher American Media Inc., had been granted immunity from prosecution to provide information, followed by news that Trump Organisation finance chief Allen Weisselberg, who had once worked for Trump's father, was cooperating as well.

"According to the state attorney general of New York", Unger noted, "that was money laundering".

"Trump is an illegitimate president whose election is tainted by fraud", conservative commentator Max Boot wrote earlier this week in the Washington Post.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan, which has been leading the Cohen probe, declined to comment, as did the White House. Weisselberg was also treasurer of The Donald J. Trump Foundation, the president's nonprofit, which has been sued by the NY attorney general for alleged violations of state law.

It was reported in July that Cohen has said that Trump knew in advance about the Trump Tower meeting and coordinated with his son.

And White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said repeatedly at her briefing last Wednesday that the president "did nothing wrong" and there 'are no charges against him'.

While previous weeks have seen long streams of largely rambling discourse striking back at the Mueller investigation and others he has perceived as enemies, the President stuck to retweeting himself and, in one case, replying to himself.

Hurricane Lane's eye seen in dramatic video as storm churns toward Hawaii

Trump claimed his former lawyer "made the deals", and insisted that Cohen's actions were "not a crime", while going on to claim that "campaign violations are considered not a big deal, frankly". "Trump certainly would not have authorized the payments unless he thought it was politically imperative to do so".

Weisselberg was one of the executives who helped arrange $420,000 in payments to President Trump's longtime attorney Michael Cohen to help reimburse him for money he paid to Stormy Daniels, prosecutors have said. Cohen has indicated he may cooperate with that inquiry.

This is the latest twist in a saga continuing to dog the Trump administration.

The dossier, compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele from anonymous Russian sources, states Cohen and three associates visited Prague to meet with Kremlin officials.

Cohen knows where all the bodies are buried, Weisselberg knows where all the money is hidden, and Pecker has all the stories and tapes documenting Trump's numerous affairs locked in his safe.

The Daniels payment was charged as an excessive personal contribution and the National Enquirer money was charged as an unlawful corporate contribution, both "for the principle objective of influencing the election", Cohen said in court. Meantime, Cohen also committed bank and tax fraud relating to his NY taxi and other businesses.

"One of the reasons I respect Paul Manafort so much is he went through that trial", Trump said.
