Trump falsely says Michael Cohen's actions 'weren't crimes'

US President Donald Trump has made a suggestion to make plea bargains illegal in the wake of his former lawyer Michael Cohen admitting a host of financial crimes. Key to Mueller's investigation is a 2016 meeting in Trump Tower in NY between Donald Trump Jr., Manafort, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner and people with ties to Russian Federation.

For all of my opposition to Donald Trump, I have always been skeptical of the political wisdom or evidentiary basis of efforts to impeach him.

"So Michael Cohen does not have information that President Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting with the Russians beforehand or even after?" host Anderson Cooper asked Davis.

Risking his job - Trump has already sacked one acting attorney general, Sally Yates - Sessions hit back at Trump who has hinted he could oust the lawyer and former senator.

Trump said "flipping" in this way should be illegal and told "Fox & Friends" host Ainsley Earhardt that Cohen was just doing it because prosecutors gave him a "great deal".

"If those payments were a crime for Michael Cohen, why wouldn't they be a crime for Donald Trump?".

In the first year of the Trump administration, there was something of a debate about how much television that President Donald Trump watched. "It nearly ought to be outlawed". "You get 10 years in jail, but if you say bad things about somebody, in other words make up stories if you don't know-they just make up lies".

Trump tried to play down his relationship with Cohen, his longtime "fixer", who claims the president directed a hush-money scheme to buy the silence of two women who say they had affairs with Trump.

Considering the information we just provided about the millions Michael Cohen allegedly withheld from the IRS, as well as his penchant for posh amenities, this next bit of info is probably going to feel like meeting the man of your dreams ... then meeting his handsome wife.

Cohen's plea came as Manafort was found guilty on eight charges in a separate financial fraud trial in Alexandria, Virginia, stemming from a federal investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and possible coordination with the Trump campaign.

Davis also called Cohen's payment of the two women a "criminal act".

The back-to-back legal blows have raised speculation that Democrats would launch impeachment proceedings if they win the House of Representatives this fall.

Michael Moore’s Trump documentary will release in…
This puts us all in grave danger. "Hope, and the passivity that comes with it, is what helped get us here to begin with". No details of an Irish release are public yet, but we're absolutely dying to see this one.

UEFA reveals shortlist for best player award
The victor of the men's and women's prizes will be announced at the draw for the Champions League group stage on August 30. And the thing which can't be taken away from the headlines is Lionel Messi misses out from the worthy nominations.

Mr Trump argued the move could have dire economic consequences.

That question should especially engage those conservatives who demanded Clinton's impeachment (as I did). "I think everybody would be very poor", Mr Trump said.

He told a court that he had in fact paid the actress, real name Stephanie Clifford, at Trump's direction to try and hush up an alleged 2006 one night-stand.

Cohen pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court Tuesday to campaign-finance violations and other charges, saying he and Trump arranged the payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels and a former Playboy model to influence the election. Behind closed doors, Trump expressed worry and frustration that a man intimately familiar with his political, personal and business dealings for more than a decade had turned on him.

She referred substantive questions to the president's personal counsel Rudy Giuliani, who was at a golf course in Scotland. The White House is trying to keep the focus on the November election, when control of Congress is at stake. And it was not clear the West Wing was assembling any kind of coordinated response.

The White House denied the president had lied, with Sanders calling the assertion "ridiculous".

That is the most immediate avenue of concern for Trump.

Manafort faces separate charges in September in the District of Columbia that include acting as a foreign agent. And Manafort, Trump's campaign chairman during a key stretch of the 2016 race, was convicted by a jury of eight counts of bank and tax fraud.

Both cases resulted, at least in part, from the work of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russia's attempts to sway voters in the 2016 election.

The Trumpian rebuttal to these charges is that Cohen is a sleazy lawyer and proven liar.

In April, transaction records show, Cohen put up his multimillion-dollar Trump Park Avenue home - valued at US$9 million (NZ$13.4 million) - as collateral on some of his taxi-related loans. I'm sorry that so many congressional Republicans have lost their sense of moral principle and institutional self-respect, but that's a reason to seek Democratic victories in the fall.
