Donald Trump Echoes Rudy Giuliani: 'Collusion Is Not A Crime'

Trump himself on Tuesday tweeted that collusion was not a crime, adding that it didn't matter any way because there was no collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation, which intelligence agencies have concluded meddled in the 2016 election.

In an abrupt departure from his statements just four days ago, Giuliani told CNN's Alisyn Camerota Monday that "nobody can be sure of anything" when she asked how he could be sure that Trump did not know about the meeting beforehand.

"I don't even know if that's a crime, colluding about Russians", Giuliani told CNN. "Hacking is the crime. The President didn't hack".

But Giuliani's media blitz is all a show, said Republican strategist Rick Wilson, who once worked for the former New York City mayor.

The meeting has become a central focus of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether anyone within Trump's campaign colluded with Russia's meddling in the last USA presidential election.

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during a joint news conference with Italy's Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in the East Room of the White House in Washington, U.S., July 30, 2018. He said there was no collusion.

Paul Manafort’s first trial begins this week: Here’s what to expect
Gates, who worked alongside Manafort as a political consultant, was indicted along with Manafort in October 2017. The case has been called the first test of Mueller's investigation, but McCarthy said it's "really not".

Valtteri Bottas contract talks only took two weeks
I think we have done a really good job considering certain things that we've faced and what they have brought to different races. The four-time world champion penned a new deal with Mercedes until 2020, when the current set of F1 regulations end.

"Giuliani's comments follow former FBI Director James Comey's assertion during a CNN town hall in April that, "[Collusion]"is not actually a thing that exists under the federal laws of the United States".

"Collusion is a crime", said Rosenberg, who once headed the Drug Enforcement Administration. "That crime is not called collusion in the law books, but illegal campaign contributions by the foreign countries, foreign companies, that would be a crime".

Giuliani also said Mueller has "conflicts of interest".

But longstanding Department of Justice (DOJ) policy holds that a sitting president cann0t be indicted or compelled to respond to a subpoena, so a Mueller subpoena of Trump would nearly certainly be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court.

Mueller, 14 months into his probe, has secured guilty pleas from a handful of Trump aides for lying to investigators about their links to Russia and indicted 12 Russian military intelligence officials for allegedly hacking into the computers of Democratic officials supporting Clinton and releasing their emails through WikiLeaks.

Early Tuesday, Trump trumpeted Giuliani's claim, tweeting: "Collusion is not a crime".
