Ritz Bitz sandwiches recalled for potential salmonella contamination

The maker of Ritz products, Mondelēz Global LLC, announced a voluntary recall of some of its Ritz Cracker Sandwiches and Ritz Bits products.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is aware of the recall of the products.

Mars Food Canada also stated that there have been no reports of illnesses related to the recalled products. The company that supplies whey powder to the manufacturers of Ritz products recalled their whey powder due to salmonella concerns.

Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning include fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

Consumers who have these products should not eat them, and should discard any products they may have.
