Quarterback Johnny Manziel heading to Montreal Alouettes

Quarterback Johnny Manziel heading to Montreal Alouettes

This was a huge trade that involved two CFL first-round draft selections, so the Alouettes obviously believe Manziel is the guy.

While the Ticats are 2-3, Manziel has yet to play this season, stuck behind veteran Jeremiah Masoli, who had passed for at least 300 yards in nine consecutive games until Hamilton lost to Saskatchewan last Thursday. The Alouettes are now sitting in last place in the CFL's East Division with a 1-4 record, including an offense that ranks last in the league in points scored and rushing yards, is tied for last in turnovers, and is seventh of nine teams in passing yards.

The 25-year-old Manziel is signed with the Canadian Football League until the end of the 2019 season. Manziel redshirted in 2011 and went on to win the Heisman Trophy the following season under new coach Kevin Sumlin.

Sherman has expressed his excitement with reuniting with Manziel, who will likely get his chance to play in Montreal.

Croatia 2-1 England: 11 things we learned
Croatia made history by qualifying for their historic first ever World Cup final by defeating England a couple of nights ago. Prince William, the president of the Football Association, said England could be proud of Southgate's team.

According to TSN, the Als also acquire a pair of offensive linemen, Tony Washington and Landon Rice. Montreal backup Jeff Mathews also is out with a foot injury, leaving third-stringer Matt Shiltz to play the final three quarters Saturday night in a 25-8 loss at Calgary. After spending last season with the B.C. Lions, Williams was dealt to Montreal on December 12, 2017.

"We have acquired an exceptional quarterback with undeniable talent", Montreal GM Kavis Reed said in a statement. 'Neither one of us believes in the status quo and felt we needed to shake things up. 'With his great mobility, his athletic abilities and his instinct we believe that he will have a positive impact on our offence'.

Although Johnny Manziel had his struggles in a Cleveland Browns uniform, the former Heisman-winning quarterback still has a cult-like following.
