Tyronn Lue warns against counting Cavs out in Finals

Tyronn Lue warns against counting Cavs out in Finals

Cleveland, meanwhile, has appeared in five NBA Finals-including this season-and won just once.

The Houston Rockets took an 11-point lead into halftime of Game 7 Monday, but the Golden State Warriors stormed back in the second half to claim a 101-92 win and advance to the NBA Finals. Now they face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who advanced to the finals by winning the Eastern Conference championship over the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

Following the game, James described the Cavs' 2017-18 season to Cedar Point, full of plenty of ups and downs. The Western conference didn't produce much defense either, so expect some high point totals early in the series and declining totals as the series progresses. Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball cannot only learn about the nuances of LeBron's game but they will learn something that has been missing from the team: winning. LeBron James is averaging 34 points and 8.8 assists while Kevin Love is averaging 13.9 points and 10 rebounds. A player Hamilton coached has made it to eight consecutive finals. Cleveland won Game 6 comfortably, outscoring the Celtics by 14 points after Love went to the locker room midway through the first quarter.

For two straight games, the third quarter officiating has been rough to say the least. James excelled as usual, and his supporting cast, including J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, George Hill, gave just enough help to win. Rockets swingman Trevor Ariza went 0-of-12 from the field in Game 7.

So how insane was it that Houston missed that many threes - many of which were wide open - in a row?

The Rockets fell apart in the second half again after doing so in game six. They missed 27 straight 3-point attempts. He's seemingly unstoppable in elimination games. First, without Paul, the Rockets were missing their most reliable midrange player; someone who at times had his way against the Jazz in the second-round series because of his ability to neutralize a club that was generally happy surrender that sort of lower-percentage look.

The Warriors are considered the heavy favorites to take the title again this year. The Rockets had no answer for the Warriors in the third quarter of most of their games this series and it was that quarter that propelled the Warriors to another NBA Finals appearance. He missed the next night's contest and returned to the floor on March 30.

The Golden State Warriors enter the 2018 NBA Finals as heavy favorites over the Cleveland Cavaliers. That Cavs' team had Kyrie Irving as their No.2 scorer, and they were facing a Warriors' team that had yet to sign Kevin Durant.

Never before, however, have the odds been stacked so heavily against a James-led team. The Milwaukee Bucks' "Greek Freak", Giannis Antetokounmpo, has drawn national attention for his prowess. Now that Golden State - hands-down the best team in the National Basketball Association for four years now, and possibly the greatest team of all time - has made it to yet another Finals, the haters are out in full force online. The Warriors were around -300 over the Cavaliers in last year's Finals.

Others aside, the fatigue factor for LeBron James can't be ignored.
