Indy 500: Australian Will Power posts historic win in Indianapolis

Danica Patrick's professional driving career came to a close on Sunday after crashing out of the Indianapolis 500. She also is the first woman to win a pole position in NASCAR's top level when she started first in the 2013 Daytona 500.

The first Australian to reach Victory Lane at Indy 500 Power's win capped a monumental day for Australian motorsport with Daniel Ricciardo triumphing on the other side of the Atlantic at the Monaco Grand Prix for a sweep of what are arguably the world's two most prestigious races.

After she parted ways with Stewart-Haas Racing following the end of the 2017 NASCAR season, Patrick said her final two races would be the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500.

"[ECR] said they looked back at the data and there was a little lift in the middle, a little understeer and back to it and [it] just swung".

Danica Patrick has been involved in a wreck and her #Indy500 is over.

"Yeah, it's an entire career", she said, "but what really launched it was this". "I had all my people around me, so I was in good spirits".

Weinstein faces sex charges amid #MeToo reckoning
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance had been under enormous public pressure to bring a criminal case against Weinstein. Mr Weinstein was sacked a year ago from his production firm, the Weinstein Company, which later filed for bankruptcy.

Patrick finished in the top 10 in just seven of her 191 Cup Series starts.

Patrick's boyfriend, Aaron Rodgers, was also in Indy to watch her farewell to the track that helped make her famous.

Despite the disappointing finish to her career, Patrick has accomplished many milestones in auto racing since joining IndyCar in 2005. On Instagram, she confessed that the closing of her career was emotional for her. "It just didn't come on race day".

Still, she is respected and, in some cases, revered at Indianapolis, where fans remember her leading the 2009 race before finishing third.

"Can't believe I came all the way from Toowoomba to be a professional driver and I never expected to be here", screamed Power.
She was surrounded by autograph-seekers all month, and she got one of the loudest ovations during driver introductions Sunday. After last season, she announced her retirement with plans to compete in this year's Daytona 500 and Indy 500. "I will say that I'm for sure very grateful for everybody and for being able to finish it up like I wanted to". "It still was a lot of great memories this month, a lot of great moments this year".
