Can another redesign bring Snapchat back from the brink?

Can another redesign bring Snapchat back from the brink?

Meanwhile, 26% of US adults aged 18-34 indicate they use Snapchat at least once per day, compared to 3% of those aged 35 and older.

Your friends' stories will remain separate from branded content, and a Subscriptions feed will allow you to easily search for Stories from popular creators and publishers in order to use the app to discover new content.

Just a few months after the last refresh, the Snapchat app is once again getting a facelift.

Late past year, Snap Inc. announced a major redesign for its Snapchat app, merging Stories and direct interactions with friends into one page, and public content from creators and businesses in another.

Snapchat has caved to its users and put stories back where they used to be, on the right hand window.

"We learned that combining watching Stories and communicating with friends into the same place made it harder to optimise for both competing behaviours", Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said at the start of the month, The Verge reports.

The redesigned

A redesign of the app followed, although it has been immensely polarizing.

Kylie Jenner, who expressed her displeasure with Snapchat's new layout earlier this year, likely contributed to Snapchat's brand bashing.

More than a million people signed a petition calling for the 2018 Snapchat update to be reversed, and it appears that the company has finally chose to act.

Now Snapchat appears to be responding, with the Stories feature being moved from the Friends to the left of the camera - an initial change that upset many - and are now back to the right of the camera screen when the app is opened.

But even this latest compromise does not appear to have appeased all the app's users, with many taking to social media to vent at yet another change.

"A change this big to existing behavior comes with some disruption", Spiegel told analysts at the time. We'll have to wait and see!
