What should USA policy toward Syria entail?

Earlier this month, at least seven Iranian military personnel were killed in the missile strike on the T4 airfield, including Colonel Mehdi Dehghan, who led the drone unit.

The former Head of Research at the Israeli Defence Force's military intelligence division, Yossi Kuperwasser, recently expressed the "international community" should do more ensure Syria does not succumb to Iran's control.

The Israelis refused to confirm or deny any involvement, but the Pentagon stated clearly the USA military was not involved in any activities in that area at that time.

The Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), or drone, was shot down thirty seconds after it entered Israeli airspace.

"The limited scope of the attack; the declarations about the focus on chemical capabilities; the meticulous care to not damage Russian assets in Syria; and the non-use of the attack to increase the coalition's involvement in regulating the situation in Syria merely reinforces Russia's and Iran's policies in Syria and their continued support of the Assad regime". The target of the drone is still unclear. While Israel wants to prevent a violent front along the Golan and prevent Iranian control over the country, the USA red lines are much more permissive.

Israeli officials have recently disclosed that an Iranian drone shot down by the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) on February 10, 2018 was armed. We have no other option. "We are still a long way from that, but I think it would be better for the United States if we did this because it would send a very powerful message to Moscow and the Iranians that we are serious".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed the stance of the nation last week by stating it not be afraid to push back against threats from Iran.

He added that intelligence shared by President Emmanuel Macron and Trump "in theory confirms the use of chemical weapons". Mr Trump said the USA is still investigating the possible involvement of the Iranian and Russian governments.

The move is the biggest shake up of the German vehicle giant since the Dieselgate scandal back in 2015. In this role, Muller will replace Herbert Diess, who was Chairman of the Volkswagen brand.

Deputy Hezbollah leader Sheikh Naim Qassem echoed the threats from Tehran.

Israel is preparing for a revenge attack from Iran after the bombing of an air base in Syria last week, which killed seven Iranian soldiers.

Israel has bombed Syrian sites several times in the course of the country's civil war. One of those bases was targeted by American forces previous year following a chemical-weapons attack by Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces in Khan Shaykhun.

In one way or another, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Russia and the US are all now involved in Syria's civil war-and each has a stake in its possible outcome.

Therefore, if the U.S. does withdraw from Syria, it could make the Israelis feel an urgent need to choose direct confrontation with Iran, fearing that the power vacuum left by the Americans might result in an additional Iranian expansion, thus replicating the Iraqi scenario.
