Police have been called to YouTube's Californian headquarters after witnesses reported an "active shooter" had opened fire.

Google, which owns the online video website, posted on Twitter that the company is coordinating with authorities.

(Meredith/AP) - Police and federal agents converged Tuesday on YouTube's headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area after receiving numerous reports of a shooting.

The city of San Bruno received multiple 911 calls from YouTube headquarters, with callers reporting shots fired, San Bruno City Manager Connie Jackson tells CNN.

The score, which is now in the adjudication phase, could break a 17 year old record!

San Francisco General Hospital says it has 3 patients from YouTube shooting; 1 in critical condition, another serious.

YouTube employee Vadim Lavrusik was one of the first to reveal a shooter was on the loose, stating how staff had barricaded themselves inside the San Bruno offices.

The total amount of victims is not yet known - nor is the identity of the active shooter.

In the last few minutes the San Bruno Police promised a statement at 2:30pm local time.

"At that point every new person I saw was a potential shooter".

Sherman said as they headed toward the exit, they met others who said there was a person with a gun.

"I looked down and saw blood drips on the floor and stairs". Mangiante said she did not see or notice anything.

The White House says President Donald Trump has been briefed on a shooting at YouTube headquarters in Northern California and that officials are monitoring it.
