At this point, Google should be well along in development of its third-generation Pixel smartphones: the assumed Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Also of note, the third new Pixel 3 phone will supposedly be a mid-range device, meaning that it won't share some of the specs and features Google has cooked up for its Pixel 3 flagships.

It's been more than two years since Google fully forayed into the global smartphone business with the launch of Pixel series, but it has failed to find traction in India, the fastest growing and the second biggest market for the smartphones in the world.

Google is also expected to spend a lot on marketing for its consumer products, with plans to take on rivals as Apple, Samsung and Amazon.

Additionally, Economic Times reports that the phone may only become available in emerging markets like India.

Do you fancy Pixel phones but couldn't get your hands on one due to budget constraints? Some of the India retailers had also participated in these meetings.

With Google's I/O developer conference coming up, it's possible we could hear more about this new cheaper Pixel in about a month. Google plans to increase the availability of these devices in the country in the future with the help of the hardware distributor Redington, by doing in-store branding and by establishing exclusive zones. Companies like Xiaomi and Huawei already realize this, and that's the reason why they are so successful with their phones in India.

Google is also set to expand its retail presence in emerging markets by launching its Google Home smart speakers, premium laptop Pixelbook, and intelligent home automation products in select price-sensitive markets.
