Facebook now lets parents schedule 'sleep mode' in Messenger Kids app

Facebook also suggests all the parents to let their Children know about this new feature called Sleep Mode on the messenger app so that they would not try out the app during the times. Sleep mode offers the same to the parents, where the set off times will make the app inaccessible to kids for the respective time period. Sleep mode is controlled from the Parent Control center in the parent's Facebook account and the "off times" can be changed at any time.

During those "off times", the kids will not be able to send or receive messages in the chat app, play with the camera, engage in video calls or receive any sort of notifications of the app. If a kid does try to open the app, it will let them know it's now in sleep mode and refuse access. We took this feedback to heart and built a feature that gives that level of control to parents.

Not too long ago, Facebook launched a kids version of its mega popular Messenger app.

I am not alone in believing that when British law can displace the rights of parents then British law must be changed. The parents of Alfie Evans have pledged to work alongside doctors to give him "the dignity and comfort he needs" .

Moreover, the child will get a warning 10 minutes before the "sleep mode" activates so that he/she can finish and wind up any ongoing conversations on the app. By adding new features to this Children app, the giant is trying to make it more efficient for the existing users of the app.

Messenger Kids, which was introduced in December, is a standalone app separate from Facebook's main social network and the regular version of Facebook Messenger. It is meant to be a tool for parents to check their kid's contacts list and what are they texting about, but also to be a safe space for children to learn about the digital world. This function will provide for an even more contained experience on the app. Starting this week, turning the search option off within the app will limit the channels children can access to a roster that has been verified by the YouTube Kids team. You can set different times for weekdays versus weekends. It comes with a bevy of parental controls and no ads.
