Conor McGregor posts $50000 bail, released after arraignment

Conor McGregor posts $50000 bail, released after arraignment

Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor was driven to a New York City courtroom on Friday to be arraigned on charges of assault stemming from a melee following a press event for a series of UFC fights to be staged at a Brooklyn arena. One of the McGregor's friends and fellow fighters involved in the incident, Cian Cowley, had his bail set at $25,000. "I would think given the fact that assault charges are misdemeanors and the most serious charge is criminal mischief, it's unlikely he would face jail time", he went on to say.

McGregor, 29, was caught on camera Thursday evening as he chucked a dolly through the window of a bus that was parked in the loading dock of the Barclays Center.

White initially called the incident Thursday "the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of the company", but he may be mellowing.

White also said this week he did not expect McGregor to attend Saturday's fights. But not in this situation.

The incident occurred at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, where the UFC had gathered to promote Saturday's show, headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway.

He punched a number of the bus's windows, yelling "Get out!" and at one point he commanded his group to "Smash the windows!"

The judge set bail at $50,000 in a package that allows McGregor to travel without restriction. "We'll get back (to Las Vegas) and focus on Conor McGregor".

Police respond to "active shooter situation" at YouTube's California headquarters
Police have been called to YouTube's Californian headquarters after witnesses reported an "active shooter" had opened fire. TV helicopter video shows officers patting down people grouped outside a building and police vehicles surrounding the area.

McGregor (21-3) hasn't fought in UFC since November 2016, when he won the lightweight belt.

McGregor has not fought in the UFC for more than a year but lost to former professional boxer Floyd Mayweather in a money-spinning bout last August.

White said he will be making a decision on McGregor's future with the promotion after this weekend's action.

Before Thursday's incident, he was stripped of his UFC lightweight title for being inactive, with the victor of Nurmagomedov-Holloway taking the belt. He also lambasted the referee for, as he saw it, trying to pick up the defeated Redmond off the ground to force him to continue fighting against Ward, despite being incapacitated by the beating he endured in the first round of the match.

The UFC 223 pay-per-view main card kicks off at 10:00 p.m. ET, while the preliminary bouts are scheduled to kickoff off 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.

"Obviously the big question everybody's been asking me, 'are you firing Conor McGregor?'".
