Black flags, 'Go back Modi' chants greet PM Modi at Chennai

With Unnao and Kathua rape cases sparkling intense protest across the country, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stayed tightlipped without making any comments on the issues. One person was rushed to the Erode Government hospital after he greeted PM Modi with an attempted immolation. Earlier, a press conference was also planned with PM Modi at the IIT-Madras, adjacent to the Cancer Institute, but it failed to materialise.

Meanwhile inaugurating the DefExpo, Modi hit out at the previous UPA government for "policy paralysis" in the defence sector and told foreign companies that it will not take a decade to take a decision on procurement of a batch of 110 fighter jets. "In less than four years, we have issued 794 more export permissions, for a total value of over $1.3 billion", he said.
