N.Korea agrees to hold high-level talks: Seoul

The planned summit between Mr Moon and Mr Kim will be preceded by performances of South Korean pop singers in North Korea.

The President is expected to meet with Kim in April, the first time the North Korean leader has publicly met with a foreign head of state.

North Korea has agreed to hold high-level talks with South Korea on March 29 at the border truce village of Panmunjom to prepare for a summit of their leaders planned for April, the South said on Saturday. In 2017, Pyongyang carried out the sixth powerful nuclear test and also the test of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) that some experts believe has the capacity to hit all parts of the US. The United States sent such assets during past drills when tensions ran high. Foal Eagle now usually starts on March 1 and continues to April 30.

A senior South Korean presidential official dismissed the worries, saying that "what's important is President Trump's will".

"These are low-key drills".

A main sticking point in U.S.

There are also concerns in South Korea over whether the appointment of John Bolton, Trump's hawkish replacement for national security adviser HR McMaster, could potentially complicate efforts to set up talks between Trump and Kim, given Bolton's past bellicose rhetoric about North Korea.
