Military parade marks Pakistan Day celebrations

Pakistan's 78th National Day celebrated in Sri Lanka Fri, Mar 23, 2018, 07:21 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Ambassador also thanked the friends of Pakistan in particular the UAE who always stood by it in hard times and contributed to its development.

Later, the armed forces' contingents began the parade, saluting the chief guests as they passed by. Skydivers from the three armed forces demonstrated their ability to jump with the national flag.

Afterwards, PAF fighter jets conducted fly-pasts with impressive manoeuvres. Towards the end, commandos from the tri-services conducted a paradrop with exemplary skills after which a national song was performed. An award ceremony is also on the agenda for later in the day, to be held at Aiwan-e-Sadar, where the president will be conferring awards to various personalities on their contribution to different fields.

The Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan hoisted the national flag of Pakistan in a colorful ceremony, held at the Pakistan High Commission this morning.

Pakistan on Friday said it wanted to resolve the ongoing row with India over the alleged harassment of each other's diplomats as soon as possible. Contingents from the armed forces of Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Jordan also participated in the parade.
