Dairy Queen celebrates spring with free cones for a cause

Free Cone Day is an annual tradition that the company rolls out to encourage people to grab a free, small vanilla ice cream cone at participating locations. The restaurant has more than 6,800 locations worldwide.

This is the fourth time DQ has hosted a free cone day.

Donations will be funneled to local children's hospitals in the network, and will stay in local communities. Last year's event raised more than $300,000 for the charity, according to a press release. Get your free treat between noon and 9 p.m.

Take a moment to celebrate the first day of spring in the Lowcountry on Tuesday - maybe with a free ice cream cone. There is a one per person limit.
