Adea Shabani: Police find body believed to be missing model

LAPD detectives have found human remains in Northern California, which they believe are those of missing model Adea Shabani.

Police said a North Hollywood actor, believed to be the missing model's boyfriend, killed himself following a dramatic police chase last week, and the authorities believe he was involved in her death. "Adea Shabani", a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.

Adea Shabani, 25, was last seen February 23 near her Hollywood home.

Just months prior to her disappearance, Shabani had moved to Hollywood from Macedonia to pursue a modeling and acting career, CBS Los Angeles reports.

The search for Shabani intensified after Spotz, 33, led police on a chase east of Los Angeles after they attempted to pull him over and took his own life at some point during the stand-off.

Earlier this week Nevada County Sheriff's Office announced that they had unearthed the remains of an adult female's body that may belong to Shabani, buried in a shallow grave in the Spenceville Wildlife Area located 430 miles from the actress' home. "We can not say that conclusively at this point in time because the condition of the remains prohibited positive identification".

PEOPLE confirms that investigators have impounded the Tacoma and a crime scene unit has been combing it for forensic evidence related to the Shabani case.

The man, identified by the L.A. County Coroner as Christopher Spotz, attended the same acting school as the missing woman, friends said.

An autopsy determined that Adea Shabani suffered blunt force trauma and the death was determined to be a homicide, the Nevada County Sheriff's Office said.

What looked to be a shallow grave was soon found in the area, detectives say.

She came from Macedonia and had been in Los Angeles less than two years, according to her friends.

When Spotz committed suicide in a stolen pick-up truck on Thursday, police said they were still investigating Ms Shabni's disappearance as a missing persons case.

"We believe it to be a homicide". Her family hired a private investigator and offered a $25,000 reward for information on her whereabouts - but it turned up no answers. Meanwhile, detectives and sheriff's volunteers fanned out across the Lake of the Woods wildlife area, looking for any sign of Shabani. Spotz fatally shot himself in the head after the short pursuit.
