Stormzy, Dua Lipa win big at Brit Awards 2018

Music industry superstars took to the red carpet at the annual Brit Awards last night (21 February), which saw singer-songwriter Dua Lipa and hip hop artist Stormzy claiming two trophies each in the top categories.

In a politically charged rap, Stormzy sang: "Yo Theresa May, where's the money for Grenfell? What, you thought we just forgot about Grenfell?" he rapped.

The ceremony, presented by Jack Whitehall, was dominated by wins for Stormzy and Dua Lipa, who was the first female in the history of the Brits to be nominated for five awards in one year.

The ceremony featured a tribute to the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing in the form of an appearance by Liam Gallagher who was called upon after Ariana Grande was forced to pull out due to illness.

Kendrick Lamar was named best worldwide male artist, receiving his award from football star Harry Kane, while Foo Fighters won the best global group category.

Rag'n'Bone Man scored his third Brit award as his track Human won Best British Single, reports "We are protesting in our own way and this how we're going to make a difference".

Lipa, who topped United Kingdom charts with her song "No Rules", took the female prize and dedicated her trophy to all the female musicians who "have allowed us to dream this big".
