PyeongChang Olympics - Day 5 Wrap / Day 6 Preview

PyeongChang Olympics - Day 5 Wrap / Day 6 Preview

On February 4, Shiffrin tweeted she could not wait for her first event, but all Shiffrin has done is wait as high winds have caused several events be postponed.

On Wednesday in Pyeongchang, the women's slalom was postponed again because of conditions, pushing the event to Friday.

Based on the sport's original 11-event program for South Korea, Shiffrin would have raced on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in Week 1, with full days off to help in the transition from her preferred technical events of slalom and giant slalom to the speed events. (The defending champion, Tina Maze of Slovenia, is retired.) Another contender is Tessa Worley of France.

U.S. ski star Shiffrin, who became the youngest ever Olympic slalom champion at the age of 18 in Sochi, will have to wait until Wednesday's for her first bid at gold in South Korea.

"Well, it compresses the schedule, so it makes for a more hectic five, six days as we approach into the speed events", USA women's head coach Paul Kristofic said.

This is the second time that the organising committee has rescheduled the alpine skiing competition due to bad weather. "That will make six days in a row when we complete the slalom".

New England Patriots officially lose Josh McDaniels to Indianapolis Colts
McDaniels was short when asked if he was taking the Colts job after the loss. "I'm just going to talk about this game", he said. A press conference has been called by the club for Wednesday, during which the new head coach will address the media.

Snow warning for across Ireland as temperatures to plummet to -2
A wind warning, meanwhile, has been issued for Munster, Leinster and Galway, with gusts of up to 110km/hr expected. Tuesday will be cold with good sunny spells and some scattered wintry showers in the west and north for a time.

"We'll continue to take it day by day and I look forward to getting in the start gate!" She also won a FIS race at Levi in November.

Wednesday, February 14 Women's Slalom TBD Thursday, February 15 Women's Slalom TBD Friday, February 16 Women's Super-G 9 p.m.

Each of the first two contests were postponed because of risky winds that exceeded 25 miles per hour and the forecast predicts more of the same on today and Wednesday.

"We've been through this before in the World Cup quite often", said USA coach Paul Kristofic. According to Rubinroit, Shiffrin could become the first woman to capture back-to-back golds in the slalom. And the second thing is: Have a good, fair race.

This seems to be somewhat of a victory lap for Shiffrin, who has dominated this event for years and hasn't found her equal on the global stage.

Kingsbury's success - over Matt Graham of Australia and Japan's Daichi Hara - was one of two Canadian gold medals Monday as the nation's ice skaters, including Eric Radford, the first openly gay man to win gold, eclipsed the silver medal it won four years ago.
