2 shot dead in New Orleans Mardi Gras night

Revelers took to the streets in elaborate or amusing costumes evoking Marie Antoinette, President Donald Trump and glamorous vampires.

The first incident happened at about 3:15 the intersection of Union and Carondelet streets.

A man was shot to death along the St. Charles Avenue parade route late Tuesday afternoon, New Orleans police said.

A search of criminal court records in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish doesn't reveal any priors for Dingle. Another, a juvenile boy, was shot in the leg and is in stable condition. Police said both were male.

A police spokeswoman says five people were shot on Tuesday night, two men fatally, at a service station in the Lower 9th Ward. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died.

By the time the officers arrived, the group had fled the scene, officials said. The names and ages of the victims have not been released. Police Commander Paul Noel said a fight broke out among a group of people and shots were fired.
