Instagram's Feed Now Offers "Recommended" Posts

Instagram's Feed Now Offers

Photo-sharing platform Instagram is introducing a "recommended for you" feature - which was so far being tested within a small group - to all users.

Instagram is planning on bringing about a few changes to its online platform.

Instagram is expected to make a lot of changes to its app in the upcoming months.

Previously, the home feed was dedicated to posts from accounts that users follow as well as ads, whereas recommended posts were located exclusively in the "Explore" tab. However, the addition of recommended content on the home feed is perhaps one of the biggest changes since the platform made a decision to switch its feed from chronological to algorithmic. This is nearly the same as the new "Explore Feed" that was launched by Facebook. Earlier this month, the platform launched an update that allows users to follow hashtags.

This feature, meant to help broaden a user's reach to more content, comes a couple of weeks after Instagram announced support to follow hashtags, rather than just specific accounts. It is not clear as to what Instagram's goal might be in the recently released features. The recommended posts from accounts that users aren't already following will appear in a user's normal Instagram feed. The recommended content is, however, not optional and there is no way you can disable it.

Unfortunately for those that desire to remove this option entirely this is not going to be possible but instead when users come across one of these "recommended" posts they can locate the three dots and choose the "hide" option. Besides, the recommended posts will only appear once you have viewed all the stories on your timeline.

IG hasn't yet confirmed a date that the "Recommended for You" transformation will be complete on both iOS and Android.

You know the way Instagram is mostly about likes and less about the comments etc? In early December, the social media platform rolled out testing for their "Recommended for You" section.
