Dom Capers not expected to return to Packers

Demovsky reports that Capers was sacked Sunday after the Packers' 35-11 loss to the Detroit Lions.

For years, Green Bay Packers fans have lobbied for the franchise to part ways with defensive coordinator Dom Capers given the team's struggles on that side of the ball. The first two years, with a veteran-laden unit built for his 3-4 defensive scheme, the Packers finished second in yards in 2009 and second in points in 2010.

The Packers owned a top-10 secondary in five of Capers first seven seasons, but Green Bay's defense finished with 11 interceptions and allowed 24 points per game, which ranked 26th and its deficiencies were highlighted with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers injured.

The news of Capers' firing is also being reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Demovsky says assistant linebackers coach Scott McCurley and defensive line coach Mike Trgovac have been fired, as well.
