Two Students Reportedly Wounded in Shooting Outside Pierce County High School

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is reporting that officers are responding to gunshots outside Graham-Kapowsin High School.

The shooting happened about 45 miles south of Seattle outside of the high school. "One was in a parking lot of the football field". They were taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

One suspect was arrested at his home Tuesday night and a second was taken into custody early Wednesday after a green Chevy Impala, allegedly used by the fleeing suspects, was seen in Tacoma by police, said sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer. All three schools were locked down while deputies searched the buildings and grounds.

"We think there was some type of altercation between two groups and we'll be sorting that out over the next few days", Troyer said.

"Deputies are actively sweeping the school grounds, at this point no indications that shooters are on campus", The Pierce County Sheriff's Office tweeted. The shooting may be gang-related, and the suspects aren't believed to be students at the high school.

Graham Elementary students were released to their buses about 3:10 p.m. After-school activities at Graham-Kapowsin High and Frontier Middle School were canceled.
