Stopper urges Newcastle to learn from mistakes after another defeat

Eddie Howe always felt one goal would be the different between Bournemouth and Newcastle United.

Howe felt that Christian Atsu - who didn't play a league game for Bournemouth during a half-season loan at the Vitality Stadium - was one of Newcastle's most risky players.

Judging by the criticism on Twitter, Newcastle fans will be hoping they do not see much of Murphy when their side next plays against Manchester United, at Old Trafford on November 18.

Steve Cook's 92nd-minute victor condemned Newcastle to their second 1-0 defeat in the space of six days, coming after Dwight Gayle had seen a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside. I was happy before the game with how we have been doing but disappointed now.

Replays show Gayle was just level as Matt Ritchie struck to hit the post before the striker rolled the ball home, and though despondent manager Benitez was clearly unhappy with the officials, he kept his own counsel when asked about the disallowed goal.

"I think Rafa Benitez has them organised extremely well defensively, but attacking-wise I haven't been blown away". We have to understand that in these sort of games we have to do better.

Benitez had revealed that he wanted to see an improvement in Gayle's general training, before rewarding him with the opportunity to start and the forward obviously took the challenge well.

"I've read a couple of his books, and he's a very intriguing guy".

Meanwhile, Cook - who headed an injury-time corner past Rob Elliot - told of his "relief" at the result. To come up here and get a clean sheet and a win is outstanding.
