Media is 'obsessed' with Russian Federation probe, but Americans don't care: White House

"Is the administration aware of who the other three or four campaign individuals who were referenced in that Papadopoulos plea were, and are any serving him or advising him in the administration?" the reporter asked.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders will hold a press briefing Tuesday afternoon - her second since the indictment of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Sanders insisted that Papadopoulos was a member of a volunteer advisory council that only met once and had no paid role within the campaign, while glossing over the actual meeting that occurred between even higher campaign officials and Russian government officials in Trump Tower in June 2016. And he was part of a list that was read out in the Washington Post.

But the bigger story came later yesterday when it was revealed that former policy adviser George Papadopoulos had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI during the Russian investigation.

She mostly took questions on the indictments and plea deal but also took a few on tax reform.

Goodlatte, Gowdy open investigation into DOJ's 2016 decisions
Peter King, R-NY, explaining how the deal was being examined as far back as 2010, reports The Washington Post . Hillary Clinton may have lost the presidential election, but she hasn't lost the interest of Republicans.

He told the Federal Bureau of Investigation a London-based professor had "told him about the Russians possessing "dirt" on then-candidate Hillary Clinton in the form of 'thousands of emails, ' but stated multiple times that he learned that information prior to joining the campaign", according to court documents.

As she spoke, CNN cited its report that Trump was "seething" behind the scenes after reports of the indictments on Monday, and noted that Trump has frequently tweeted about the probe.

Papadopoulos sent a "High-Ranking Campaign Official" an email titled "New message from Russia" back in June 2016, in which he said the Russian ministry of foreign affairs wanted to meet with either Trump or a campaign official in an off-the-record capacity, according to the prosecutors' statement.

Without citing a source or potential end date, Sanders said that the Trump administration believes Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation will end in the near future.

The White House has acknowledged this one meeting as there is photographic evidence of it from Trump's own Instagram account (Papadopoulos is third from left).
