Arabs prepare for Iran Security Council face-off

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamamd Javad Zarif described as "ironic" Saudi accusing Tehran of "destabilization".

The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir has said that Qatar's crisis is small matter and there are more important matters to attend to.

"Lebanon is not responsible for the Arab and regional conflicts that Arab countries are witnessing", Mr Aoun told Arab League chief Ahmed Abul Gheit during their meeting in Beirut on Monday.

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said the Arab nations were "not declaring war on Iran at this stage", but meant to "brief" the matter with worldwide organizations, including the United Nations Security Council. Arab foreign ministers gathered at Saudi Arabia's request for an extraordinary meeting to discuss alleged "violations" committed by Iran in the region, but the foreign ministers of Lebanon, Iraq and Syria were not in attendance.

This month alone, Saudi Arabia and its allies have accused Iran of having a hand in the attempted Houthi missile attack on Riyadh; an alleged Hezbollah assassination plot that supposedly compelled pro-Saudi Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri to flee to Saudi Arabia and resign amid unclear circumstances; and an explosion and fire at a major oil pipeline in Bahrain.

Hezbollah is a partner to Lebanon's coalition government.

While Tehran has made no secret of its political support for Houthi, it has repeatedly denied rumors of arming the Yemeni Houthi, with Iranian President Rouhani stating that the Houthis' missile launch at Saudi Arabia's capital was a "reaction to aggression", adding that Riyadh's belief in the Islamic Republic being its "enemy" is a "strategic mistake".

Russian Federation releases video game screenshot as 'proof' United States is working with IS
Shortly after the Russian defense ministry posted the photos, social media users quickly identified the fakes. It said the US-led coalition refused requests to cooperate and "eliminate fleeing Isis convoys".

During the meeting Bahrain's Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa was quite vocal against Hezbollah saying it was "in total control" of Lebanon.

The Arab League accused Hezballah of "supporting terrorism and extremist groups in Arab countries with advanced weapons and ballistic missiles", in its declaration.

"The Iranian threats have gone beyond all limits and are pushing the region toward a unsafe precipice", Abul Gheit added. Relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran have been rocky since the 1979 Iranian revolution.

The minister said this contrasted with a Saudi meeting with the Arab League in Cairo, during which the kingdom demanded a hard line against Tehran.

Saudi Minister for Gulf Affairs Thamer al-Sabhan has warned the Lebanese they must choose "either peace, or to live within the political fold of Hezbollah".

Iranian forces have played a key role in backing the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in its war against the rebels and ISIS.
