24 passengers fall ill after consuming food in Mumbai-Karmali Tejas Express

All the passengers who complaine dof food poisoning were admitted to a Lifecare Hospital at Chiplun in the Konkan region. The breakfast menu included an omelette, cutlet, juice, tea and coffee. "The kitchen where food was prepared was inspected by area officer Madgaon after the incident and samples collected for testing", IRCTC stated.

Around 24 passengers fell ill in a suspected food poisoning case after consuming food from onboard pantry of Tejas Express on Sunday, news agency ANI reported. He threw up blood. While Rao did not eat anything and so remain unaffected, there were at least three passengers sitting near him who had to be rushed to hospital in Chiplun for medical care.

As reported by the hospital, none of the patients was in serious condition, IRCTC claimed in its statement. The Taings were returning from a four-day trip in Goa. The official said, "We still do not know whether food poisoning was from veg or non-vegetarian food". Passengers have complained of poor quality of food being served on the train in the past. After couple of hours, more passengers complained of similar symptoms, it said. When the train arrived in Mumbai at 9.30 pm, numerous other passengers related their ordeal. "One patient suffers from excessive vomiting and diarrhoea. This is unfortunate and strict action would be taken against all those responsible", said the official.
