Jaguar Announces Electric Future With Battery-Powered E-Type

Jaguar Land Rover has said all of its vehicles will be available in electric or hybrid models from 2020 as it becomes the latest car-maker to move away from internal combustion engines.

The electrifying news comes as Jaguar Land Rover opens the doors to its first Tech Fest in London, showing off the company's vision of the future.

Jaguar Classic has created an electric version of an original 1968 Series 1.5 E-Type, retaining nearly all of the original E-Type, but making it purely electric powered.

Tim Hannig, director, Jaguar Land Rover Classic, says the E-Type Zero will future-proof classic vehicle ownership as it looks to bring the concept to reality. Built by Jaguar Classic the vehicle will do zero to 60 in 5.5 seconds.

This setup has allowed Jaguar to retain the original suspension and brakes and it handles, claim Jaguar, just like and original E-Type.

Amply seconded by its tagline, "We future history", the vintage has been brought to life by the Jaguar Land Rover Classic division. The original vehicle which dates back to 1968, now is totally emission-less being powered totally by electricity all thanks to the 220 kW drivetrain that has been fitted into it. It features a fully electric drivetrain in a break from convention.
