Trump's approval rating plunges to new low, poll shows

On Wednesday, his outlook appeared no better, with the president reaching a 38 percent approval rating and 62 percent disapproval rating. Trump has repeatedly praised the poll - which has been rated by polling analysts as less accurate than many of its peers - for its accuracy in instances where it has shown positive ratings.

Trump's approval rating was 76 percent among Republicans, 2 percent among Democrats and 34 percent among independents.

President Donald Trump's approval has hit a new low, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

That's according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted last Thursday through Saturday.

As polarized as the polling was during the Obama years, and as unpopular as George W. Bush was, neither of the two previous presidents were considered embarrassments by voters.

Last week was a bad week for Donald Trump, and now that the approval rating numbers have been released, it seems as though voters have been paying attention and expressed their opinions over the many issues on the table. It pointed out that 18 other countries - including Australia, Canada, Israel, and the United Kingdom - allow transgender people to serve openly in the military with "little or no impact on unit cohesion, operational effectiveness, or readiness". They disapprove of his job performance 50 percent to 43 percent.

The poll was conducted between July 27 and August 1, included 1,125 voters.

The figures mark a steep drop from Quinnipiac's June 29 poll, which showed a 40 percent approval rating and 55 percent disapproval rating. Sixty-two percent of American voters disapproved of his job performance. The new figures, says Quinnipiac, are the lowest approval and highest disapproval number since Trump took office.

Republican voters remained the only demographic group opposed to allowing transgender people in the military. The telephone poll surveyed 1,125 voters, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

"Voters say a soldier is a soldier, no matter what his/her gender identity is", Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll, said in a statement released with the survey results.
