Rajiv Gandhi remembered on his 73rd birth anniversary

Addressing a public meeting here after paying tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary, he said the former prime minister played a pivotal role in bringing Information Technology revolution in the country, the fruits of which were being reaped by the people today.

City unit of Congress paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birthday during a function held at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, Sector 35, today.

Many leaders and family members of the late Prime Minister were present at the ceremony.

Congress chief Sonia Ganhi, Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Robert Vadra and daughter Miraya were among those who paid homage at the samadhi.

The former Prime Minister was assassinated in a suicide bombing attack near Madras, in Tamil Nadu on May 21, 1991.

Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhawana Diwas is a day to commemorate the values, attitudes and ideals of the late Prime Minister.

Post Indira Gandhi's assassination in 1984, Rajiv was appointed the Prime Minister making him the youngest Prime Minister of India at the age of 40.
