Iran's Supreme Leader Endorses Rohani For Second Term

President Robert Mugabe has left for Tehran, to attend the swearing in ceremony of Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani on Saturday.

On July 14, 2015, Iran and China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany, signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Tehran's nuclear program.

Under Rouhani's watch, Iran emerged from worldwide isolation in 2015 when it struck a deal with six world powers to curb its disputed nuclear programme in exchange for the lifting of financial and economic sanctions in place for a decade.

During a meeting with Iraqi President Fuad Masum on Saturday, Rouhani pointing out that Iran was the first country to fight against the terrorists with the help of Iraqi people and government, said "today, we are very pleased that the Iraqi people have gained successive and brilliant victories over terrorists".

He said that the Islamic republic would remain committed to the worldwide nuclear deal and would not violate the deal signed two years ago.

"We will never accept isolation", Rouhani told a packed audience of Iranian political and military officials in Tehran on Thursday.

Iran's Interior Ministry has chose to raise security level at the Parliament to "critical" during the inaugural ceremony.

After the ceremony, Rouhani addressed the participants that during the past four years in office, his government has achieved economic improvement in close interaction with the rest of the world.

The threat has eased somewhat, the intelligence official said, in part due to the implementation of enhanced security measures . The United States has ended the ban on large electronics in the cabins of airlines that it announced in March .

The deal put an end to the "oppressive" sanctions by the West against Iran, he said.

The new USA sanctions could embolden Rouhani's conservative rivals who say the nuclear deal was a form of capitulation.

The 2015 nuclear deal only put caps on its uranium enrichment program.

Foreign Minister Javad Zarif meanwhile told European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini that President Trump was "trying to destroy the nuclear accord at Iran's expense" and said "Europe should be conscious of this", Tasnim reported.

The runner-up, Ebrahim Raisi, secured 38.5% of the votes.

The move by Trump is likely to embolden his hardline critics, who say the nuclear deal was a form of capitulation.

The emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, was absent despite attending Rouhani's last inauguration in 2013.

Also among the dignitaries are the President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea, Kim Yong-nam, and other North Korean political figures. Rouhani has to announce his new cabinet members to Parliament within 14 days.
