Liverpool back off from Keita deal

Liverpool do not appear to have given hope of signing Naby Keita just yet, despite RB Leipzig's claim that the Guinea worldwide will "100 per cent" not be leaving this summer.

Keita was the subject of two recent rejected bids from Liverpool and Leipzig have confirmed they turned down an offer of £67 million ($87 million) from an unnamed club. Similar to the Reds, Leipzig will be competing in the Champions League next season and it will be the ideal opportunity to see whether Keita can continue to deliver the goods in one of the hardest club competitions in the world.

"Our next offer for Keita is €300m!" he jested whilst enjoying a conversation with Sky Deutschland.

"The chances [of a transfer], none", Hasenhuttl said.

"It's 100 percent that Naby will play this year at Leipzig".

"At the beginning of the transfer period we said we would start with the same team, and of the players we had a year ago no-one will go".

Keita and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk are the two players linked strongly with a move to Anfield before the transfer window shuts.

"When you play such a famous season as a year ago it is normal players get interest, that other clubs are watching us is normal", he said.

And Keita's emergence of one of the most sought after players in European football comes as no surprise to his manager, who is looking forward to another "fantastic" season with the midfielder in his ranks. "Until next summer we will keep it closed and then we will have a look".
