'Multiple casualties' in 'knife and vehicle incident' on London Bridge

President Donald Trump touted his so-called travel ban Saturday in the wake of reports that people were hit by a van and stabbed in London, while also pledging assistance to Britain.

British police rushed to London Bridge after reports of a vehicle running down pedestrians.

Soon after, there were reported stabbings at nearby Borough Market, an area full of bars and restaurants.

Media reports in the United Kingdom suggest two attacksers were shot by police after the stabbings at Borough - however police have continued to tweet the "run, hide, tell" message, suggesting there are other attackers still at large. Police attended a third incident in Vauxhall which was not confirmed to be terror-related.

Other witnesses reported seeing as many as three attackers with knives.

London Ambulance Service tweeted: "Multiple resources attending an incident at #LondonBridge, please avoid the area".

Alexander Downer has told Julie Bishop in a text that the London incident is being treated as a terrorist incident. He estimated 100 people were on the bridge at the time, fewer than earlier in the night because it was getting late.

Holly Jones, a BBC reporter at the bridge when the incident happened, said a van had swerved off the road into a crowd of pedestrians.

Police told the BBC that more than one person has died in the London Bridge incidents.

"A van came from London Bridge itself, went between the traffic light system and rammed it towards the steps".

"I thought at first it was fireworks, then I recognised it was significant gunfire".
