ISIS Claims Responsibility for Jerusalem Attack

Following the attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled permission for Palestinians to visit family members in Jerusalem and Israel, police said. The PLFP is a Marxist-Leninist group that broke away from the Arab Nationalist movement in the late 1960s and was credited with carrying out worldwide attacks, including plane hijackings, and in more recent times, rocket attacks on Israel.

According to police reports, two of the attackers opened fire on police while a third stabbed the policewoman.

The assailants, all from the West Bank village of Deir Abu-Mashal near Ramallah, were shot and killed by the police.

SITE Intelligence Group, a company that tracks online activity of white supremacist and jihadist organizations, said the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed the attackers as part of their organization.

While the volatile east Jerusalem entrance has been heavily secured following Friday's coordinated attacks, and visitation by Muslim's to the Temple Mount have not been limited, Rosenfeld said on Sunday morning that two Arab suspects were arrested for attacking police. She was identified as Hadas Malka, 23.

Israel accuses the Palestinian establishment of inciting the violence, including by glorifying attackers and supporting their families.

Verdict reached in police shooting trial

Following the attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone consultation with the chief of police and public security minister, and chose to cancel the family visits, a police statement read.

A spokesman for Israel's Shin Bet internal security agency told AFP it was "impossible to corroborate (the IS claim) at this point". Maqdisi is an Arabic term for a Palestinian Jerusalemite.

Israel had previously announced its annual goodwill measures for Ramadan that included 200,000 thousand visiting permits for family visits for Palestinians from the West Bank and access for 100 Gaza residents to attend prayers at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Since October 2015, more than 285 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces during - or immediately after - alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli security forces, according to Palestinian figures.

Most of the Palestinians killed were allegedly carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks, Israeli authorities say.
