Explosions, Gunfire Heard At Hotel Complex In Philippines

The complex, which is described on RWM's website as "the first and largest integrated resort in the Philippines", is across from Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Police were conducting a search and had evacuated all guests.

"I heard many, many gunshots", Julio Silva, a witness who managed to dash out of the mall complex, told the DZMM radio network.

The resort was put on lockdown and heavily armed SWAT officers wearing bulletproof vests and body armor descended on the scene, Camille Abadicio of CNN Philippines said.

Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa says authorities have reviewed CCTV footage from the scene and the lone gunman "was not hurting anyone".

The Philippine national police chief says there is no concrete evidence that the attack on a hotel and casino complex near Manila's airport is terrorism.

Pictures and videos have appeared on social media overnight, showing plumes of smoke pouring out of the building.
