Disabled protesters stage sit-in outside Sen. Mitch McConnell's office

Capitol police were filmed removing protestors, some straight from their wheelchairs, in an effort to break up the demonstration.

They said in a statement that they are open to negotiation before the full Senate considers the measure. Ryan had to pull his American Health Care Act (AHCA) a couple times under fierce opposition and did not even finish getting the bill through the House of Representatives in the end.

McConnell now faces a similar but more hurdle-filled battle, but can afford to lose only two Senate Republicans and still pass his healthcare bill through the Senate via reconciliation-and have Vice President Mike Pence on standby to be the tie-breaking vote.

Soon after a draft version of the Republican's Senate version of their Trumpcare care bill was released Thursday morning, Capitol Hill Police were systematically arresting people who staged a dramatic sit-in outside of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office.

ADAPT, the national disability rights group behind the protest said the Senate's bill is a direct threat to the future of people with pre-existing conditions and disabilities.

One feature of the bill is a reduction in the federal government's share of funding for Medicaid, which offers health coverage to the poor, to 57 percent of its cost over the next seven years.
