DeGrom, Cabrera lead Mets over Cubs 6-1 for 4th straight win

Cespedes hit a grand slam in his return Saturday from a left hamstring injury that landed him on the disabled list for six weeks. NY has allowed exactly one run in each of its last three games - tied for its longest such streak since a franchise-high tying four-gamer in 1988.

Cespedes went 1-for-3 before being pulled. He neatly bounced back from getting hit hard in a pair of starts, walking four and striking out six.

Asdrubal Cabrera made up for an early error with two home runs, taking both of them off Cubs' right-hander John Lackey (4-7).

Cabrera was in the middle of double plays the Mets turned in four straight innings, starting in the third.

Dexter Fowler hit a three-run homer and Adam Wainwright tossed five solid innings, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

DeGrom kept the ball down to great effect in this one as he induced a whopping 17 ground ball outs, with his only real mistake on the night coming in the form of a solo home run to Addison Russell in the seventh inning.

Taillon (3-1) allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five.

Cubs: RHP Kyle Hendricks (hand tendinitis) plans to throw on the side Tuesday.

deGrom is now sporting a 3.35 xFIP with a 5-3 record and 100 strikeouts in 13 starts (81 innings pitched).
