Biden encourages Romney to consider Senate run in Utah

Former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden is encouraging former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to run for a senate seat in Utah now held by Orrin Hatch if the senator decides to retire next year.

Biden made the comment during a closed-door appearance with Mitt Romney at the annual Romney-hosted E2 Summit, reports Politico.

One person in attendance — videographer Dean Dykema from Maryland — said Romney didn't give any indication he's considering a run if Hatch decides against seeking re-election.

Biden was appearing at Romney's annual E2 Summit in Deer Valley, Utah, and the two were leading a discussion in front of the summit's attendees Friday evening.

There's speculation Biden may be planning his own run for president in 2020, and last month formed a political action committee. However, at 70 years old, Romney is a bit elderly to start pushing change in Washington. He revealed Friday that he had been serious about serving as Trump's top diplomat and even spoke to Hillary Clinton, the defeated Democratic nominee, who encouraged him to take it.
