White House goes blue to honor nation's police officers

"The Police memorial is a lasting tribute and will be located at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire".

Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer Don Martin said officers from the department were in attendance at the National Peace Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

"The law enforcement officers who protect this great state, and the families who stand by their side, deserve our deepest respect", said Governor Abbott. They risk their lives and put their personal safety at risk to make sure that we are safe. He spoke about the 118 officers who died past year in the line of duty.

The National Police Officers Memorial Day annually coincides with National Police Week.
