Government scientist from DC wins Miss USA title

The District of Columbia has won back-to-back Miss USA titles.

The contestants from New Jersey and the District of Columbia had different views on feminism. "As Miss USA, I want to expand my nonprofit into colleges and create a high school Nuclear Engineering and Radiochemistry bridge program at universities that feature a nuclear program", she added.

Verg told The Associated Press she and her parents immigrated from India to the USA with only $500 in their pockets when she was 4 years old.

However, the 25-year-old who majored in chemistry at South Carolina State University and works at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, sent heads shaking after calling health care a "privilege" instead of a basic human right.

McCullough was born in Naples, Italy, and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

With the win, she is now slated to compete in the Miss Universe contest.

De Los Santos, Miss North Dakota Raquel Wellentin, Miss Hawaii Julie Kuo, Miss Connecticut Olga Litvinenko and Miss New Jersey Chhavi Verg spoke to The Associated Press about the opportunities and challenges they've faced as immigrants.

Andy Parkes column: Mental health issues can hit us at any time
Just last month, Kaiser Permanente debuted an ad featuring a surprising spokesperson for mental health: Stephan Curry. Sometimes the answer is clear, but often the distinction between mental health and mental illness isn't so obvious.

In one of her final answers, McCullough said she believed health care is a privilege - an answer many on Twitter took issue with.

"As Miss USA, I would love to be able to be that inspiration for our immigrant community", said Linnette De Los Santos, who emigrated with her family from the Dominican Republic when she was 5. "It's not just one face". Following legal action Trump sold his stake in the pageants to a talent management group. The broadcast also will include a performance from a Cirque du Soleil show - a Las Vegas staple - based on Michael Jackson songs.

The show is being hosted by Julianne Hough, Ashley Graham and Terrence J. Grammy victor Pitbull and CMA Award victor Brett Eldredge will perform.

Dancing With the Stars' Julianne Hough and Terrence J were the hosts of the competition, while Ashley Graham served as the show's backstage host.

Now that her preparation toward the pageant is over, McCullough said she is looking forward to eating a Texas cheesesteak at Waffle House. Although majority acknowledged McCullough was an ideal victor, they also agreed that her stance on significant social matters was a little problematic, to say the least.
