Everton coach Koeman gives ultimatum to Barkley

Barkley's current contract at Everton expires in the summer of 2018, with the midfielder yet to agree to a new deal.

Everton's manager has made it clear he is prepared to sell the England global this summer should he fail to sign the deal that has been on the table for several months.

With the jury out on Ramiro Funes Mori and Jagielka getting older, the Toffees are expected to sign at least one centre-half and have been heavily linked with Burnley's Michael Keane. The board is working a long time for Ross to stay for a long period.

"If you take so much time [to sign], you have doubts [about staying]".

Now Koeman has attempted to crank up the pressure on Barkley to make a decision, so as to get the situation resolved in order to keep the distractions to a minimum.

Koeman added: "I think it's his responsibility and the responsibility also of his agent to say yes or no".

This was Almonte's first start in center field this year, and that play was the only one which presented any challenge for him. On a cold, damp night, he left Detroit's 5-2 win over the Cleveland Indians for a defensive replacement after seven innings.

If Barkley does decide to move from Goodison Park this summer, he reportedly has plenty of options as to his destination.

"But people tend to forget that we missed many starting players during the season. Were already trying to get players who want to play in the front positions for next season". Next week we need an answer, if we go for a holiday, he will [either] accept a contract or we will sell the player.

Lukaku, who is currently the top scorer in the Premier League, has turned down a new contract at the club with his future now in doubt.
