'Big Bang Theory' Prequel 'Young Sheldon': See the First Look

Providing CBS unparalleled stability, the Network will return 23 successful series to its 2017-2018 schedule.

CBS announced its lineup Wednesday, giving new "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff "Young Sheldon" the ideal spot right after "TBBT" on Thursdays.

Jim Parsons (adult Sheldon) will narrate this new 30-minute series, which centers on young Sheldon growing up in Texas and coming to terms with his supersonic math and science capabilities.

The post-football CBS schedule will see "Big Bang" back in its usual home on Thursday nights, followed by "Young Sheldon", which tells the story of Sheldon as a nine-year-old starting high school.

Feuerstein stars as a divorced actor who moves back to NY to be near family (Lavin, Gould) in "9JKL" (8:30 p.m. Monday).

The top-rated network, always a fan of familiar faces, will also feature Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) in comedy Me, Myself and I, which focuses on a man's life at three ages (14, 40 and 65); Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) as an actor living in an apartment between his parents and his brother in comedy 9JKL; and Jeremy Piven (Entourage) in Wisdom of the Crowd, a new Sunday drama about a tech genius who "creates a cutting-edge crowd-sourcing app to solve his daughter's murder".

According to EW, CBS will hold the returns of "Elementary", "Code Black", "Man with a Plan" and "The Amazing Race" until midseason.

As for "The Big Bang Theory", it's been renewed for two seasons - and CBS Chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves is already looking for more beyond that.

After NFL THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ends, THE BIG BANG THEORY will move to its regular Thursday time period on November 2.

WEDNESDAY: 8, Survivor; 9, Seal Team; 10, Criminal Minds. NCIS, television's #1 drama for eight years, returns at 8:00 PM, followed by BULL, this season's #1 new drama in viewers, at 9:00 PM.

Moonves was asked about CBS' interest in American Idol before it ended up at ABC.

Fridays, it's MacGyver, Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods.

New midseason shows include "By The Book", a comedy about a modern-day man who decides to live his life strictly by the Bible, and "Instinct", starring Alan Cumming as a gifted author, university professor and former Central Intelligence Agency operative who is lured back to his old life by the NYPD when they need his help to stop a serial killer. CBS even gave a first look at the show at its Upfront presentation on Wednesday (May 17).
