The PowerShares QQQ 300 literally saw half the field taken out by either crashes or mechanical failures, including some top drivers like Elliott Sadler, Justin Allgaier and Bubba Wallace.

"We spend probably 70 to 80 percent of the lap that we run looking in the mirror, not actually looking where we're going", Almirola said "So, that's the most challenging thing to get used to and get comfortable with, is just you are totally focused on what's going on behind you".

"I thought I was right where I wanted to be on the last restart", Almirola said. "Doug Yates (of Roush Yates Engines) brings some awesome horsepower, and our Ford Mustang was super-fast". Almirola also finished fourth in the Daytona 500 this February to give him back-to-back top-fives on plate tracks. "I should know better", Sadler said after his second-place finish. It is his eighth top-10 finish of the 2017 season.

Logano finished third. Ben Kennedy placed fourth in his first series race of the year.

The Turks would like to a part of a joint operation to take the city of Raqqa, the main city left in control of the IS in Syria. The Russians also condemned the Turkish strikes saying that they violated Syrian sovereignty as well as helping terrorists.

"Man we were so close, aggravating", Logano said.

"I guess that's really the main focus in the Xfinity Series now", Jones said.

The Big One on the Blvd has quickly become a popular tradition on race weekends at Talladega, with fans gathering for a Mardi Gras-style parade featuring NASCAR drivers that leads to an area where fans then participate in a variety of messy games which are judged by the drivers. "We only do this (type of racing) four times a year, so it's hard to be really good at it, or at least it's hard for me". Selfishly, I wish the caution came out, but for the fans I'm glad that it didn't.

The win was Almirola's first of the season in four starts and his first at Talladega.
